Envie has often mentioned these times as inspiration. The principle is simple: each artist gave one picture or exhibit for the exhibition. The curators have visited many Hamburg studios in recent months and collected the best and hottest from the Hanseatic city.
It forms part of "Seduced: Art and Sex from Antiquity to Now", a major exhibition exploring the representation of sex in art through the ages. The more than works on display range from images of copulation on ancient Greek cups to contemporary billboard-size photographs of love-making by American artist Jeff Koons. It forms a motif for the show, which unashamedly displays erotic works as striking for their explicitness as their artifice.

THE first thing you think when you enter an exhibition of erotic drawing at the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Ridgefield, is, um, porn.
